Team JPH | Join Your Path to Hope

First let me say I'm sorry it has been so long since I've posted, tough to believe it's been a year. As you may imagine, life has been hectic and settling into being a single father has certainly been a process, not to mention the three of us working to find the right balance. So, your grace is certainly appreciated and your prayers even more so.

There are many updates, some pressing and some not, so let me cover the urgent first. Coming up on Sunday August 27th, we have the Head For the Cure 5k. I am obviously late in getting this on everyone's calendar but I would love to see you there. For a while I didn't think I was going to make it, due to the timing of moving Alexander back to school. However, I think we have worked it out so I am able to take him a little earlier in the week and be back in town for the race. I am so excited to be there again this year to support Head For the Cure and to remember Julie with all who are able to be there. Here is the link to Team JPH, I hope you are able to join us!

As many of you know, last year we used the race as an opportunity to announce we were beginning work on a technology platform to help people like me and families like mine who find themselves in the same battle we were. In the last year, we have made so much progress in that effort. Thank you to Sophie Clark, Matt Anthony and the rest of the Head for the Cure team for driving the project forward. Thanks to their effort, we have been able to create requirements, define content attributes, create a presentation to illustrate the project and most importantly, we have partnered with VMLY&R to begin breathing life into the platform. Just this week they delivered a clickable wire frame. I'm so happy for the tangible progress and excited to share with each of you as we continue down the path.

We have named the platform Join your Path to Hope orJPH :-) Last year after the 5k Matt, founder of HFTC, was gracious enough to allow us to direct the funds Team JPH raised towards building the JPH platform. This year we are doing the same thing! So, whether you register and walk / run or if you just want to donate, you can know your resources are going to continuing Julie's legacy of helping people. In addition to the walk, we will be working on other fundraising efforts specifically for JPH as we go through the fall and to a planned launch late this year.

In short, the platform will provide patients, care givers and their support systems the relevant information they need, when they need it. We are working with doctors, therapists, patients and their families to understand the content needed based on where they are in their journey. We believe that journey has three layers that are all related, the medical, the emotional and the relational. We want to help families work through all three as they walk through their battle.

I'm excited about what the future holds for JPH and the work we are doing with HFTC and excited to share with you as we move forward. I hope to see those that can make it to the race just two weeks from today!

For a couple quick family updates... Kate starts her sophomore year at BVN this week and golf try outs start tomorrow afternoon! So, big week coming up for Kate. Alexander heads back to Miami of Ohio the following week to begin his sophomore year. He will be studying in Luxembourg this spring as part of their study abroad program. Both of them have had a fun and busy summer and are bummed to see it come to an end.

Thanks to each of you for your continued support. See you soon.
