We made it home from a big road show to meet with doctors - from KC to Duke to KC to MD Anderson Cancer Center to KC to University of Nebraska Medical Center and finally back HOME to KC. In just over a couple weeks we talked to some wonderful doctors about next steps in my treatment. I am so thankful Drew was able to juggle work and be with me every step of the way. I am also so thankful for everyone who helped with the kids and dogs and house - we have the most amazing support!!!
Duke was really wonderful and it was pretty clear why they are so highly regarded for treating glioblastoma. And, it is a bonus when the doctor takes you off all the meds that are making you feel awful and tells you just to exercise for 30 minutes a day to build back your strength! MD Anderson was great because it was a long time coming to meet a sweet doctor that has a KC connection! She had a similar opinion to Duke and that always makes you feel better. Not too much more information from Omaha – that doc had generally the same opinion.
The tough part is that, despite our efforts to talk to doctors and get a game plan, the game plan is still just wait for tumor growth and try to find a clinical trial at that point. So, I have an MRI at the end of the month and we will go from there. Thanks for all the prayers and encouragement, they mean more than you could know while we are in this holding pattern.
Isaiah 41:10 NIV
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
